It’s a very charming hotel 5 min walk from the lake. The employees are very helpful and friendly. The room has a proper kitchen with everything you need to cook a proper meal. Highly recommend it!
Had brunch Sunday morning and ordered the corn beef hash and eggs, word of advice…… don’t order this. There were a few very tiny pieces of shredded beef amongst a pile of hashbrowns. I laughed when it came out as I thought it was an obvious mistake. Nope it wasn’t. They need to google corn beef hash and see what it’s supposed to look like. Server was nice, atmosphere was pleasant. I’d come back again, just wouldn’t order this item.
Fine old hotel, beautiful setting by the lake front. Spotlessly clean, well-maintained. Helpful desk clerk. Found a free parking spot on the street close by. Located within a short walk (eg 20 min) to bars, restaurants and lively ambience of Brady Street (more to be explored next time).
An absolutely charming hotel. Great Restaurant and a completely stocked and very clean Kitchenette. Small, beautiful details, like the old wooden service doors, the portal passage ways and friendly personell, all contribute to a lovely experience. After our second visit to this hotel. Situated Downtown in a gorgeous building, it becomes even more breathtaking when you walk in! The hotel has a fantastic charm, definitely not the usual routine chain hotel vibe at all. We really loved the character and the location! The restaurant was good, professionally handled and the food was tasty. We had a wonderful experience! Every staff member we encountered, from the check- in to the cleaning staff were delightful and eager to help! Thank you!! We will be back.
Should've read the reviews before booking. Was excited to book with a "boutique hotel," as I've had great experiences with them in the past when traveling. Not here. As other reviewers have pointed out, there is no vestige of service here. Interactions with the front desk feels like arguing with your landlord. I called ahead to request an earlier check-in, as I had an event at 5pm and wanted to check in beforehand. Was told "You're welcome to come an hour early but no promises." Arrive to be told my room won't be ready till the check-in time, so I was lost as to what to do. Wasn't even pointed to their tiny lounge space hidden around the corner, which I found later on in my stay. Despite being located *near* the lake (but certainly not "on" it as the name suggests), the multiple front desk agents have no knowledge or desire to help you sightsee. Are there tours available? No idea. What's a good place to get brunch? Don't know - we have a restaurant though. How about dinner? Also don't know. My room, admittedly, was much nicer than the rooms in some of the other reviews. The bathroom was clean, with a nice shower nozzle. The bed was soft and comfortable. Old building = window AC, but it worked fine. There was a cute den/work area and a mini kitchen. The room is what earns this hotel the "barely passable" 3-star rating. Still there were issues. The door squeaked like claws being dragged across a chalkboard at the barest touch. Oh, and despite being on the 8th floor, my view is just... other buildings. I'm not sure any room should expect a spectacular view, though, since the hotel is half a mile linear distance to the lake, and there are buildings and a forest in between. Yea. Have to admit I had a high expectation and was disappointed. Will try somewhere else next time.
