We finally stopped by Uppa Yard in their new location and it was nice and spacious and a bar option. We ordered the large Jerk chicken with cabbage and beans/rice. The Jerk chicken wasn't as favorable and lacked that jerk punch. It was grilled nicely but you can tell the chicken was marinated. We also had the jerk egg rolls and they were we good. The cabbage in the roll was the best, it was seasoned very well and chopped to small pieces, very delicious. The chicken in the roll plays nicely with the cabbage. Not sure if it want there best day, but will try the again.
So we ordered large Jerk Chicken and Oxtail dinner with Plaintains and man I'll tell ya'll like this; you'll know when you've had great food when the flavor of the food is so good that it brings nostalgic memories and have you reminiscing to your Lady. The staff was all love and genuinely good people. I ate my food slow to appreciate the love that went into it. I can't wait to return on our next visit. Thank you Uppa Yard for the wonderful experience and food.
They have the best jerk and jerk sauce in the city. Rice is dry with no curry or some type of sauce on it. Good drinks. Good atmosphere. Gotta call in though or order online. Takes 25-30 minutes to get your meal.
I ordered online. It said 35 minutes. Got there, it was super crowded. My food wasn’t cooked yet. Waited 45 min. I order oxtails with rice and cabbage and chicken curry with rice and cabbage. We got everything shoved into one Togo container. We wasted $30. Cabbage was cold. A lot of chicken not enough gravy and 3 small oxtails.. I would NOT recommend..
The food is always great. However, the service is terrible. Simply put... you will wait and wait and wait. If you are very patient, then you're okay, but the wait is not for the weak. The staff isn't rude, but they're not polite either. So don't be tender-hearted. I dare say the customers are easier to deal with than the staff, maybe because they can sympathize being in the same situation. Trying to find parking is a whole other dilemma. Just being honest. Did I mention that the food is outstanding!?
